Yule
Fourth album - Release in February 2025
Coming full circle...
This fourth album completes the tetralogy dedicated to the celebration of the cycle of
the seasons by ancient peoples, to which we wanted to pay homage through our music. Yule is the festival of light which, from the Winter solstice onwards, becomes increasingly present, heralding the hope of Spring, synonymous with renewal and the warming of the lands and hearts.
After the fall of the Western Roman Empire, the festival of Yule was replaced with Christmas due to the Christianization of the Germanic and Scandinavian peoples. To pay tribute to these ancient customs, we drew our inspiration from the music of these Nordic peoples. Thus, my first song set to music comes from a 12th-century Norse poem, and several other compositions are in the same Scandinavian style.
Once again, we have surrounded ourselves with talented musicians, including Dominic Haerinck on harp, Alex Kehler on nyckelharpa, Frédéric Fontaine on Jew's harp, Jordan Delage on bass vocals and Franco Turi Lombardo on vocals. Nataly Rainville, my sister and collaborator from the very start in communications quality control, lends her voice in a 13th-century English song and a motet.
Skarazula would like to thank the following people for their contribution in the making of the album: the Victoria Cheese Factory team for the caloric intake; Fenci, my studio assistant; Nataly Rainville and Lise Raymond for the press relations.
