Litha

Second album - Released in September 2007

Following Ostara, the spring equinox festival, Skarazula offers you a new tribute to the pagan festivals that marked the lives of our distant ancestors. Litha is the Saxon celebration of the summer solstice and corresponds to the feast of John the Baptist for Christians.

The music on this album was mainly recorded in Saint-Paul de Joliette, a few meters from the workshop where François Rainville made some of the musical instruments that can be heard on this second album.

To emphasize the album's theme, and purely for our enjoyment, we chose pieces largely from the Mediterranean basin, particularly from Spain. The introduction of the oud, kaval, and frame drums lends the album the warm, evocative sound of the ancient Orient.
