Samhain

Third album - Released in November 2012

In its evolutionary quest, the Skarazula Ensemble is getting closer to the ancient oriental traditions by exploring the pieces of this repertoire and by inspiring them to create original works, detaching itself from the medieval music for which it is recognized. Samhain (pronounced "sah-wen"), the third opus of the group, reflects this turning point.

With this new album, the formation continues its homage to pagan festivals, Samhain being the celebration of the dead amongst the Celts, that can be linked to the the Christians' Toussaint. Samhain is also known as the Celtic New Year, which is consistent with Skarazula's shift to oriental music and the beginning of a new phase for the band. In addition to the medieval pieces that appear on the album, we can hear Turkish pieces, Arab and Eastern Europe Rom inspired music.
