François Rainville
Cittern, mandora, fiddle, oud, saz and voice

François is an active musician since 1993. A member of a medieval group for five years before co-founding Skarazula, François collaborated in the recording of Le Festin. A self-taught musician trained in lutherie, François makes most of the instruments used by the band's musicians. Before taming ancient musical instruments, François first learned the guitar and made an incursion into the world of rock and pop music. Gifted for composition, he is the author of most of the original pieces of Skarazula. These pieces show his distinct interest in Middle-Eastern music, mainly Turkish music. François has evidently benefited from his meetings with the master İsmail Hakkı Fencioğlu (Turkey). He has also directed and participated in the recording of all Skarazula albums in collaboration with Steve Grenier.
