Andrew Wells-Oberegger
Bouzouki, oud, percussion and voice

Born in Montreal in 1978 to parents of English and Austrian descent, Andrew Wells-Oberegger obtained a diploma in music from Cégep Marie-Victorin in 2000. He specialized in classical guitar first, then in Renaissance lute under the tutelage of Jacques Joubert. Fascinated by the ancient instruments and world music, he continues his training in a self-taught way and with several masters. He developed his talents as oudist with Amine Mraihi (Tunisia) and İsmail Hakkı Fencioğlu (Turkey), and perfected the Mediterranean drums with François Taillefer and tamburello specialist Carlo Rizzo. He also studied singing with Madeleine Jalbert and Francine Poitras. A multi-instrumentalist continuously recognized on the national scene thanks to his particular expertise, he has interpreted and composed for many soundtracks of films, documentaries (collaboration with Michel Cusson, Gregoire Jeay, Luc Boivin, Normand Roger) and contemporary dance performances (Koreas).
